Doggie Doodie

Backyard Blossoms

This is one of those “Aw, Crap!” posts. First, I didn’t realize some blogs are ‘award free.’ Yikes! Color me embarrassed.  I haven’t finished the commenting portion for a couple Mystery Bloggers I nominated yesterday; finishing shortly, cautiously. Sorry!

New Pup News:  She already poops bigger than the last dog did! My stash of Dollar General bags is dwindling. Most of the toys/leashes we bought her are too small.  She thinks her water bowl is a swimming hole. I gave her a dog bed, she wrestles with it like WWF. She ate a whole bag of baby carrots in 2.5 days. AND she got me to run with her- kinda. That ain’t easy for an old broad! HA!

On a sober note… we’ve suspected some kind of abuse in her short past. Among other things: She’s growling, with fur up, at anyone who comes near us on walks O.0 More on this as we keep training and reassuring her.

On the home front: Hubby is home. Trucking is slow. He’s not up to par anyway. But the paycheck won’t be, either. Crap!  He’s walking the pup often, so that’s a big help.

Lilacs in sunshine 4 Grandma Auburn Designs 5-2019.jpgNext- I need to take my Dad some dinner; and to doctors’ appointments this week and next. I’m gettin’ a tad cagey about those. A couple weeks ago I screwed up and missed one of his appointments. He was upset and sorta freaked. I felt rotten about it. Almost 50, I’m still trying to be a good daughter.

Friends and Confidantes,  I’m overdue for a little get away. – Gma Auburn {Jen} – Knows where her marbles are… same place her coffee’s hidin’…

Mystery Blogger Award

mystery-blogger-awardA heartfelt thanks to Clive for nominating me. {I think my Gravatar is fixed now!} He’s helping our corner of the mental health community come together in some innovative ways. He’s an author and blogs at Bipolar? It’s not all doom and gloom

My Nominees and Questions are below…

Three Things About Me:

  • There was never a time when I didn’t want to be a writer… or live in the woods.
  • My inner editor/proofreader works overtime.
  • IRL: I’m not quite five foot tall; but my mouth makes up for it.

1: what inspired you to start blogging? Sometimes I’m so introverted, it’s painful. I blog to challenge myself. Toss in a few unspoken rules. Put these little snippets ‘out there.’ Play with the language. The rhythm. Chronicle the stories and lessons I’d like to remember. Personal writing- in a personable way.

2: where do you see yourself in five years? Is this a job interview?? Ha!

3: apart from writing, what else do you like doing? Hiking, camping, cooking and assorted crafts. Visiting family & friends.

4: what’s your favourite quote? So many!!

  • “A story is a way to say something that can’t be said any other way, and it takes every word in the story to say what the meaning is.” -Flannery O’Connor
  • “I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity.” – Edgar Allan Poe
  • “It’s hard to be funny when you have to be clean.” Mae West
  • …And whatever Stephen King said about writing a million words of crap.

5: what is your guilty pleasure? [Inhaling Chocolate while…] Listening to classic audiobooks [H.P. Lovecraft!] or true crime -narrated with a British or Irish accent.

  1. Where is your favorite location in the world? Why?
  2. Do you have a daily routine, semi-set, or wing it?
  3. When you were a child, who told the best stories?
  4. What 4 items are always on your desk?
  5. What was the last show you binge-watched?

Thanks everyone for stopping by today! I have several new followers in the past few days. Grateful. Humbled. Still a tad perplexed/intimidated by these online activities. Though, I’m excited to go visit more bloggers and have a sense of community. You? – Grandma Auburn {aka Jen!} – My Bi-Polar Backstory

The creator of this award,  Okoto Oke Enigma, whose blog site is www.okotoenigmasblog.com

WHY DID I CREATE THE AWARD?
I created the award because there are a lot of amazing blogs out there that haven’t been discovered, yet. And, most of these blogs deserve recognition. For that reason, I decided to create my own award; and nominate people who can also nominate others; and so on. This is one of the best ways to create a friendly community and build a link between bloggers in the blogosphere; as everyone gets nominated and they too can spread the fun by nominating more people for the award. Here are the Rules for the Award Nominees.

The mystery blogger award

I decided to call the award “Mystery Blogger Award.” Why? Because the meaning of my name, “Enigma” is “mystery.” So basically, it’s named after myself; the creator. Plus, I think it’s cool because there are so many blogs that are still a mystery to us; and when we get to know them, it’s divine! And we find friends where we least expect.

WHAT IS MYSTERY BLOGGER AWARD?
Mystery Blogger Award” is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.
– Okoto Enigma”

Here are the Rules for the Award Nominees:

  • Put the award logo/image on your blog.
  • List the rules.
  • Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well.
  • Tell your readers 3 things about yourself.
  • You have to nominate 10-20 people.
  • Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog.
  • Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question.

New Pup, House Hunting and Other Surprises

BorderColliePupAltogether now…… SQUEEEE!!!  Meet Nosey Rosey. 9 week old Border Collie mix. She’s going to be the greatest homesteading dog ever 😉 Tonight we’re leash and potty-training on high ground, during a rain storm, in a trailer park. So I’d say that’s a good start! HA!

This morning we drove two counties over just to cross off another property. There was too much water damage and Mrs Kravitz lived next door. Yikes! The hunt continues.

BorderColliePup5Other Surprises- Grandma Auburn has been recognized for her story-telling prowess! {I heard that snicker} Nominated for The Mystery Blog Award by our new friend, Clive over at Bipolar? It’s not all doom and gloom  Official post on that tomorrow! I’m excited and honored.

Good Night & Happy Mother’s Day! Friends and Confidantes, until the next walk around the block – Gma Auburn

If I Write It All Out…

ziggy days 2010We had to put our 14 year old dog down this afternoon. I’m in manic-limbo just now.  RT and Granddaughter were here most of the day; Glad for that interaction and distraction. Told dog stories. Like that time on the truck when I was walking him outside Wal-Mart in Dumas, TX; and he rubbed noses with a rattlesnake.  I about crapped. A. Brick.

He was a Scottie mix: We were told he looked like a gremlin… or Chewbaca’s Dad! He hated people, unless you threw the ball. He was scared of the cat. Loved hiking dirt trails, playing in snow drifts and garden hoses. He has pooped at every truck stop in 47 states.

I can’t believe it’s still Friday. Have to think back for a minute that hubby came home early from work. Feels like it happened yesterday. Maybe it will be when I’m done writing whatever this is. Then the exhaustion can take over.

In the afterlife, Friends and Confidantes- I don’t know if I’ll get to see the people I knew… but I sure hope I get to go where all my good dogs went. -Gma
