New Pup, House Hunting and Other Surprises

BorderColliePupAltogether now…… SQUEEEE!!!¬† Meet Nosey Rosey. 9 week old Border Collie mix. She’s going to be the greatest homesteading dog ever ūüėČ Tonight we’re leash and potty-training on high ground, during a rain storm, in a trailer park. So I’d say that’s a good start! HA!

This morning we drove two counties over just to cross off another property. There was too much water damage and Mrs Kravitz lived next door. Yikes! The hunt continues.

BorderColliePup5Other Surprises- Grandma Auburn has been recognized for her story-telling prowess! {I heard that snicker} Nominated for¬†The Mystery Blog Award by our new friend, Clive over at Bipolar? It‚Äôs not all doom and gloom¬† Official post on that tomorrow! I’m excited and honored.

If I Write It All Out…

ziggy days 2010We had to put our 14 year old dog down this afternoon. I’m in manic-limbo just now.¬† RT and Granddaughter were here most of the day; Glad for that interaction and distraction. Told dog stories. Like that time on the truck when I was walking him outside Wal-Mart in Dumas, TX; and he rubbed noses with a rattlesnake.¬† I about crapped. A. Brick.

He was a Scottie mix: We were told he looked like a gremlin… or Chewbaca’s Dad! He hated people, unless you threw the ball. He was scared of the cat. Loved hiking dirt trails, playing in snow drifts and garden hoses. He has pooped at every truck stop in 47 states.

I can’t believe it’s still Friday. Have to think back for a minute that hubby came home early from work. Feels like it happened yesterday. Maybe it will be when I’m done writing whatever this is. Then the exhaustion can take over.

In the afterlife, Friends and Confidantes- I don’t know if I’ll get to see the people I knew… but I sure hope I get to go where all my good dogs went. -Gma

When the Wind Blows and Your Plate Overflows

Know that you aren’t alone. Life’s branches are being unruly. At least they’re still on the tree.

blossoms2019 5
A joyful moment.

This week is a wind-swept mess. I’m trudging ahead. Are you?

It doesn’t matter how much work I have on my desk; for several weeks now,¬† life will drag me where I’m needed¬†more instead.¬† So to compensate I’m composing past midnight. Not eating well, either. Appointments: Husband’s driving foot is laid up so he’s missed 3 days of work. Daughter has the flu. My dog has terminal mouth cancer and goes back to the vet tomorrow.¬† {Been making him smoothies} And because I’ve neglected myself; I’m starting to loose track of time and some online work. At least I remembered to walk the dogs, check in on Dad and make some cash on micro jobs.

I feel terrible that the house is a wreck. And that ramps up my anxiety.¬† {And I’d rather gripe about it than go tidy and mop. HA!} Also signed up for a few online courses, both free and paid. And I even started a couple. Thankful I can restart them later, because I can’t retain any new info just now. And I’m aggravated about that, too.¬† For now, I’m hanging onto and snapping pictures of, those little daily joyous moments.

Limitations and reminders. I got ’em, I give ’em, Friends and Confidantes! – Grandma Auburn – Tries to muffle her swearing in mixed company.

GUNSLINGER TRUCK – Texas

Picture: NOT our truck. Obviously an Owner/Op. This is amazing!!!!

[Driver! Drop me a note, I’ll give you & the designer a link & credit.]

Texas is another state where you’ll know every shrub, wild hog and border patrol SUV across 2 days… goin’ the long way. Goin’ the short way – You’ll wind up in a Laredo Terminal somewhere along that insane highway. Or El Paso – I loved El Paso – the song, Marty Robbins. I sang it over the CB as we passed through.¬† {Rig life gets boring sometimes! HA!}

Texas also has windstorms and glow-in-the-dark baby scorpions. Had to step on one WHILE taking out the garbage AND walking the dog – during one ‘sand-stinging’ night.

Texas has Nightingale birds. They are quite the loud orchestra in the Flying J Truck plazas. In every tree, picking trash. They’re gorgeous in the sunshine, plus they pick the dead bugs out of the truck grills.

Forth Worth STRANDED: After being towed one morning to a Freightliner dealership. For 9 hours. {Dispatch changes shifts, of course; so by 5pm, I’m repeating myself.} We’re in the trucker lounge with pets and gear. It’s pouring rain when the place closes. Still no motel booked for us. We stand, then, for 2 more hours under the garage awning… Several heated phone calls later – the first taxi passes us by – and leaves.¬† Another hour later a second taxi pulls up and the driver FREAKS OUT because we have pets. Almost pulls away. We tell him they are leashed, don’t bite and we’ll hold them on our laps. He agreed! WHEW! — It was a 12 hour trucker day, and we didn’t make a dime. –Grandma Auburn – #truckingfacts¬†
